Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
This year, the New York Distirct SBA Office will be recognizing eight Small Business Week winners at a special cereomony on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Microsoft Technology Center in Times Square. Join us to recognize the achievements of these outstanding members of the small business community.
This year’s Keynote Speaker will be Joe Connolly of WCBS Radio.
Winners will be recognized in the following categories:
- Small Business Person of the Year
- Young Entrepreneurs of the Year
- Micro Business of the Year
- SBIR/STTR Recipients of the Year
- Jeffrey Butland Family-owned Business of the Year
- Small Business Champion
- Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award
- Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award
Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m.

Who says you have to be in Kentucky to celebrate the Kentucky Derby? Not Harlem Derby! Founder Rob Owens has been doing it Kentuckian-style in Harlem for the past five years – hats, bourbon, mint juleps and all. Celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture at this four-mile race in Central Park, now in its 12th year. The race and accompanying Rising New York Road Runners event are part of Japan Day @ Central Park, which starts immediately after the Japan Run and features a variety of Japanese food, activities, and stage performances over the course of the day.
